Facility Restoration

How can Improved Project funds be used?

Improved Project funds can be used:

  1. Improved Project funds can be used to improve the     damaged facility while ensuring it retains the same function it had     immediately prior to the disaster.
  2. Examples of using Improved Project funds include: some text

    • Laying asphalt on a gravel road.
    •
    • Replacing a firehouse with more bays than the      original.
    •
    • Incorporating requirements from a code or      standard that does not meet PA eligibility criteria.
    •
    • Relocating a facility when FEMA does not require      the relocation.
  3.
  4. The funding available for PA hazard mitigation for     an Improved Project is limited to the amount that would have been     available if the facility had been restored to its pre-disaster design.

Improved Project funds can be combined withfunds from another federal agency to construct the project, but these externalfunds cannot be used towards the non-federal cost share of the PA-fundedproject, with few exceptions.
